  Apple's emergency call service via satellite is now also available in Switzerland. You need an iPhone 14 or iPhone 15 with iOS 17. From today you can also use Apple's satellite emergency call in Switzerland and Spain. The company announced this in a press release on Friday morning. The feature allows emergency services to be alerted in areas without cellular reception. It works with all iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models and is built directly into the iOS operating system. The service will be free for two years, after which it is unclear how much it will cost. How it works When you dial 911 and have no reception, the iPhone automatically switches to satellite mode. It only works outdoors and you need as clear a view of the sky as possible. Clouds are no problem, but large buildings can be an obstacle. Later this year, US merchants will be able to accept Apple Pay and other contactless payments simply by using iPhone and a partner-enabled iOS app Apple today announced plans to introduce Tap to Pay on iPhone. The new capability will empower millions of merchants across the US, from small businesses to large retailers, to use their iPhone to seamlessly and securely accept Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital wallets through a simple tap to their iPhone — no additional hardware or payment terminal needed. Tap to Pay on iPhone will be available for payment platforms and app developers to integrate into their iOS apps and offer as a payment option to their business customers.   As we spotted in November and following the latest push for RCS support on iPhone earlier this month, Google Messages is starting to roll out iMessage reactions in beta for Android users. Once rolled out to your Android phone, Google Messages will convert iMessage reactions (officially referred to as “Tapbacks“) sent by iPhone users in response to SMS/MMS. Instead of them appearing as an annoying text version (e.g., Loved “Testing”), the response on your device will appear in the bottom-right corner of the message bubble you sent, similar to the iOS-to-iOS experience. That said, Google made some interesting choices in the translation process. The iMessage “Heart” becomes the “Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes” emoji.
